What are some good gift ideas for a boyfriends parents/family?

My boyfriend’s parents live out of state and I have only met them once. I have no idea what to buy them for Christmas or if it’s even appropriate to buy them anything? Please help!

This doesn’t apply to just boyfriends but sometimes, a simple Christmas card with a thoughtful and honest note or letter attached to it, written by you, can go a long way.

Maybe some candlesticks, or a gift basket with coffee or wine.

You can send them a nice tin of holiday cookies or flavored popcorn. http://www.harryanddavid.com offers great holiday baskets for a reasonable price.
A holiday floral arrangement, poinsettia, or flower basket is always appreciated. Any of the on-line florists are competative in price.
Or, for something in the lower budget range, homemade rice crispie treats lined in wax or parchment paper, covered with holiday sprinkles in a beautiful holiday tin do ship very nicely.
