Arrested Development – Mama’s Always On Stage
Posted on 16. Aug, 2011 by Young Parents Guide.
www.arresteddevelopmentmusic.com is one place you can go if you want to order AD’s new album “Since The Last Time” which is their FIRST IN THE US SINCE 1994!!! it came out in December of 2007 and their video for the lead single “Miracles” was featured on channel 330 on Directv, BETJ’s show “Soul Sessions.” This is a lesser known song off of the band’s debut album “3 Years, 5 Months And 2 Days In The Life Of…” which got it’s name from the exact length of time it took for their record deal to go through. The album was released to warm critical acclaim, selling 5 million copies and receiving heavy airplay with three singles, the infectious, spiritual song about going back to a simpler time, “Tennessee,” the song that was meant to make people realize derelicts are people too, “Mr. Wendal,” and AD’s cover of Sly and the Family Stone’s “Everyday People,” “People Everyday.” After their debut, AD released “Zingalamaduni.” The album was released to a luke-warm reception and the band broke up two years later without releasing a follow up until they reunited in 2000 without their DJ, Headliner. Since the break up, AD has released 4 albums and their lead vocalist, Speech, has released 2 solo efforts. They continued to record in Europe and Asia and decided to return to the US in December of 2007. This track, although not as well known as many of the other tracks on AD’s debut, is one of hip hop’s most conceptual songs with one of the most heavy and melodic uses of record scratching …

2Pac – Brenda’s Got A Baby
Posted on 14. Aug, 2011 by Young Parents Guide.
“Brenda’s Got a Baby” is the solo debut single by Tupac Shakur, and tenth track from his debut album, 2Pacalypse Now. The song, which features R&B singer Dave Hollister, is about a fictional twelve-year-old girl named Brenda who lives in a ghetto, has a baby, and is incapable of supporting it. The song explores the issue of teen pregnancy and its effect on the young mothers and their families. Like many of Shakur’s songs, “Brenda’s Got a Baby” draws from the plight of the impoverished. Using Brenda to represent young mothers in general, Shakur criticises the low level of support from the baby’s father, the government, and society in general. Shakur wrote the song when he read a newspaper article about a twelve-year-old girl who got pregnant from her cousin and, because she did not want her parents to know about the baby, threw it in a trash can.

My Parents Still Wanna-Be Rockstars
Posted on 04. Apr, 2011 by Young Parents Guide.
“Chase your dreams, never give up…but keep it down.” ~ScarfTree And here it is! My second YouTube vlog! Tune in for a small glimpse of a day in Sam Kleege’s shoes as I talk about shooting for your dreams, all while I live through my parents’ still reaching for theirs
Anyone else have “rock star” parents? All in all, I definitely encourage and support striving for your dreams. You never know who you’ll influence, what you’ll discover along the way, or how much you’ll learn about yourself in the process. What are my dreams you may ask? I’ve gone through plenty…but in the meantime, I want to be heard. I wanted to step outside our familiar day to day routines and share a bit of my life with people all over the world. Hoping that maybe I could meet more people that feel the same way, possibly gone through similar experiences…or maybe just enjoy my vlogs as they come. What are your goals, dreams, and aspirations? I’d appreciate any kind of support you have time to offer. Whether that be “liking” my videos, leaving comments, sharing my videos, or even better yet–subscribing! It’s all good! Thanks!
