Leaders can help families and communities mobilize around the goal of getting ALL kids “college- and career-ready” through the use of a series of eight Iowa Future video clips from interviews with personnel at the Iowa College Student Aid Commission. Content includes what the new workplace realities are, why Iowa students have the fourth greatest debt load coming out of college, what supports there are to help students make good choices, and many other items of interest. The short videos can be used in a variety of settings—with a local school improvement advisory committee (SIAC), a parent-advisory committee, human service providers, high school faculty, etc. to make the argument that no student should be consigned to less than rigorous courses or low expectations, or a limited vision of what the future can hold. iowafuture.org
