Do you know if Parents or Parenting Magazine would be an excellent resources to find out more about becoming a mother? Let me know the pro’s and con’s of the Magazines as well as recommendation of few books perhaps. Thanks in advance!!

Im reading the ads for the work at home sites in the back of the parent’s magazine.

I always thought most things listed in those magazines would be legit. But as i went to each website, it one almost says the same thing. It ask for a number where they can reach u. & they all say money back guarantee. So how is it, that these websites r in the ad for parents magazine? Has any one tried to look up these sites too?
Hmm.. Bobby A, why do u sound like scam.. how do they find all these questions to copy & paste their answers..

I feel like a lot of the advice that books and magazines give is misleading, and makes people think they are bad parents when they are really not. What "standard advice" do you really disagree with?

I notice that people are mentioning that there are magazines specifically for adoptive parents, I was just wondering if there are magazines or anything out there that is strictly about and for adopted people.
Anyone know what is out there?

All those magazines like Parenting, Child, etc, all focus on infants and preschool. They get a little into the school years, but just barely. There is a little information about kids age 8-12, but once the kids enter puberty the information stops.

As a parent of a teen I find that I didn’t stop needing information, advice, etc.

If there were a parenting magazine to give advice on raising teens, including how to handle your child’s puberty, social issues, what kind of gifts they really like to get, what is in style for them and how to keep it in your budget and not obscene, etc, would you subscribe, or at least read it in the doctor’s office?

I’m 14, a hardworking student, I have my priorities, and I play a variety of sports. However, occasionally I flip through a magazine like Seventeen and I find it interesting, so I’d like to ask my parents to let me get a yearlong subscription to see if I like it or not. It’s not that they won’t let me subscribe to magazines, but they might be partial to the fact that it’s basically a fashion-oriented one like Seventeen.

Any advice?

I considered subscribing to _Child Development_, a scholarly journal that publishes a lot of the leading research articles on parenting and child outcomes, but it’s subscription fee is horrendous. (Set for university libraries, not parents, I guess.)

Most magazines seem to give very short shrift to research. They interview so-called experts for ideas from time to time, but you can tell that these folks are rarely research scientists.

So have any of you found any good methods of doing this?

I currently get "Parenting" and it is just so bland. Any magazines that offer a more diverse look at kids and parenting? I want to see real kids of all shades, hair colors and textures, and eye colors. I also would like a magazine that has more to offer than one boring article after the next. Any suggestions?

My favorite magazine used to be Parents.Now, it is Wondertime and Family Fun. I like Wondertimes articles and Family Fun’s articles for family projects and cooking recipes.
I started reading the magazines because I picked them up for free at the pediatricians office.

Does anyone have the coupon from either of these magazines that they are not going to use? I think it came on a postcard inside the magazine, and the code is for one time use. I will give best answer to the first person who responds w/a good coupon. I am at the checkout right now and cannot find my coupon. THANKS!!!
