PLEASE RATE!! www.myspace.com www.myspace.com My father sits at night with no lights on His cigarette glows in the dark The living room is still I walk by, no remark I tiptoe past the master bedroom where My mother reads her magazines I hear her call “Sweet dreams” But I forget how to dream CHORUS But you say it’s time we moved in together And raised a family of our own, you and me Well, that’s the way I’ve always heard it should be You want to marry me, we’ll marry My friends from college they’re all married now They have their houses and their lawns They have their silent noons Tearful nights, angry dawns Their children hate them for the things they’re not They hate themselves for what they are And yet they drink, they laugh Close the wound, hide the scar CHORUS You say that we can keep our love alive Babe, all I know is what I see The couples cling and claw And drown in love’s debris You say we’ll soar like two birds through the clouds But soon you’ll cage me on your shelf I’ll never learn to be just me first by myself Well OK, it’s time we moved in together And raised a family of our own, you and me Well, that’s the way I’ve …

It Is Just A Phase By Marcus Simpson feat Edward Rhoden
Posted on 12. Sep, 2011 by Young Parents Guide.
Buy This CD itunes.apple.com Buy This CD www.amazon.com Buy This CD www.cdbaby.com It Is Just A Phase Is definitely a song that every teenager and parent should listen to, especially single mothers raising sons. The song is loosely based on a true story about a 21-year young man from the urban community. He is about to give up on life because he never did anything right in the eyes of his mother. To top it off, he is stuck at home because he cannot afford to move out and pay his own rent. He dropped out of high school and has no job, and he refuses to work as a supermarket box handler. This song, It Is Just A Phase, brings hope to the young man. I understand how this situation makes him feel. But, this will not last forever. If he believes in himself and makes the first move toward his dreams, then God will take over and turn things around in his life. Arrested Development – Mama’s Always On Stage
Posted on 16. Aug, 2011 by Young Parents Guide.
www.arresteddevelopmentmusic.com is one place you can go if you want to order AD’s new album “Since The Last Time” which is their FIRST IN THE US SINCE 1994!!! it came out in December of 2007 and their video for the lead single “Miracles” was featured on channel 330 on Directv, BETJ’s show “Soul Sessions.” This is a lesser known song off of the band’s debut album “3 Years, 5 Months And 2 Days In The Life Of…” which got it’s name from the exact length of time it took for their record deal to go through. The album was released to warm critical acclaim, selling 5 million copies and receiving heavy airplay with three singles, the infectious, spiritual song about going back to a simpler time, “Tennessee,” the song that was meant to make people realize derelicts are people too, “Mr. Wendal,” and AD’s cover of Sly and the Family Stone’s “Everyday People,” “People Everyday.” After their debut, AD released “Zingalamaduni.” The album was released to a luke-warm reception and the band broke up two years later without releasing a follow up until they reunited in 2000 without their DJ, Headliner. Since the break up, AD has released 4 albums and their lead vocalist, Speech, has released 2 solo efforts. They continued to record in Europe and Asia and decided to return to the US in December of 2007. This track, although not as well known as many of the other tracks on AD’s debut, is one of hip hop’s most conceptual songs with one of the most heavy and melodic uses of record scratching …

2Pac – Brenda’s Got A Baby
Posted on 30. Jul, 2010 by Young Parents Guide.
“Brenda’s Got a Baby” is the solo debut single by Tupac Shakur, and tenth track from his debut album, 2Pacalypse Now. The song, which features R&B singer Dave Hollister, is about a fictional twelve-year-old girl named Brenda who lives in a ghetto, has a baby, and is incapable of supporting it. The song explores the issue of teen pregnancy and its effect on the young mothers and their families. Like many of Shakur’s songs, “Brenda’s Got a Baby” draws from the plight of the impoverished. Using Brenda to represent young mothers in general, Shakur criticises the low level of support from the babies’ father, the government, and society in general. Shakur wrote the song when he read a newspaper article about a twelve-year-old girl who got pregnant from her cousin and, because she didn’t want her parents to know about the baby, threw it in a trash can. The opening consists of a duet singing the songs title repeatedly. Much of the rest of the song is one long verse performed by Tupac. The verse begins with him telling a group that he has heard about Brendas pregnancy. He also notes that the girl has had virtually no education in her life, having only barely obtained minimal skills in writing, and calls this a “damn shame”, criticizing and has little hope in life. Her family is very poor, and her father is a heroin addict. Brenda is impregnated by her unnamed boyfriend, who is her cousin, but she is successfully able to hide her pregnancy. Tupac explains that it wouldnt matter to …

Arrested Development – Mr. Wendal
Posted on 14. Jul, 2010 by Young Parents Guide.
Tony Bingham, a sincere friend, found our location for this video at the last minute – and we were of course elated. But on the shooting day in question, the skies produced rain clouds for miles. I sat silently, thinking how I’d finally gotten to shoot a music video for this band (I had already directed their EPK and documentary), and now the heavens were not cooperating. Clearly a disaster was abound. I decided to shoot anyway. Maybe two takes in, I’d pretty much given up on the clip having any signature look…everything was drab, muddy and dark. But within, it seemed, seconds, a wondrous thing happened. I received a call from my steadicam operator who said prior his schedule would not allow for him to be there – now he was asking for directions. My smile began. Once he arrived, the cloud cover peeled back. We had a stretch of about 3 hours of moist sunlight! Outstanding! After a bit of fertile photography, we packed up and left the farm location, stumbling accidently on a small shack in the middle of nowhere. Funny, when I entered the rickety structure, a visible hole stood out in the middle of the place. I thought out loud, “Quick, let’s place the camera down there, and spin it in a circle to catch each band member in a different part of this open house. Worked like a charm! And when I suggested Speech sit in the window, the sun grew brighter for our two only takes. God…is all one can say. We traveled back to downtown ATL, where I was favored with the distinct honor …
