Becoming a Preschool/Kinder-garden Teacher?
Posted on 28. Jul, 2011 by Young Parents Guide.
Ok~ Here’s my Questions,
*To become a Preschool/Kinder-garden Teacher would it be smarter to Major in something related to teaching or Child Development? I’d rather go with Child Development Because that means i can find more jobs related to Children instead of just teaching, Right?
*What is the Demand for them in Japan? I see a lot of people wanting to hire English and Japanese speaking People but those jobs seem mostly to teach ONLY english to children, I don’t wanna do that.
(by the way who on Earth hires A tutor for a preschooler to learn English? I honestly saw an ad wanting one!)
*What are the requirements In Japan For them?
*Is there any extra classes you can/should take to improve your chances of getting the job??
*Any other suggestions, Ideas or Comments???
~THANKS~

Parents with Preschoolers! I have questions!?
Posted on 24. Jun, 2011 by Young Parents Guide.
Hello! I am currently a student majoring in Child & Adolescent Development to become a middle school math teacher soon. Right now, I am taking a course called Child Development, and I have a questionnaire assignment about the toddler and preschool age. If you don’t mind taking some time off, can you answer these questions the best you can? If you are unsure, you are welcome to put "N/A" as an answer. Thank you soooo much!!
Age of Preschooler:__________
It is suggested that you watch the child in a setting where they have space to move and equipment or terrain to challenge them to bring out a great variety of motor skills and social interaction. Plan to be at a child care center or the child’s home during a time when children are playing freely, as opposed to napping or eating.
1. Give the age child observed, date, and circumstances of observation. (e.g.
the setting)
2. To what extent does this child demonstrate use of large muscle skills?
(running, jumping, hopping, etc.)? Give specific examples.
3. In what ways does the child use small muscle skills? (using scissors, pasting,
string beads, tying shoes). Give specific examples.
4. Make a list of activities to help the preschool child develop both large and
small motor skills. Large Motor Skills Small Motor Skills.
5. Give THREE quotations of the child’s speech. (Look for overgeneralizations.
He goes, he falled; I hurted, etc.; however, give three actual language
quotations, whether the child uses overgeneralizations or not.)
6. What function does language seem to serve this child? (social
communication? egocentric speech? thinking out loud?)
7. To test whether or not this child is in the stop of Preoperational Thought vs.
Concrete Operational Thinking, use the Piaget liquid or clay experiment to
demonstrate whether or not the child understands conservation of liquid or
mass. If this observation is done in a child care center, probably the clay or
play dough version is most easy to do.
8. Observe and record the play activity of this child. What kinds of materials
does he use? Fantasies? What roles and relationships does he explore with
his peers?

How is my college admissions essay? what are my strong points? whats it on a scare of 1-10. Do I stay focused?
Posted on 20. May, 2011 by Young Parents Guide.
Looking back, I could have never imagined my life would be shaped so greatly by a group of preschoolers nearly a sixth of my age. A few years ago, I might also have laughed with disagreement at the statement, “he who teaches children learns more than they do.” A special group of 3 year-olds came I’m last fall to learn from me, and left teaching me more than I could ever ask for.
Before taking child-development, or even before high school, I was very unsure of myself. During class I was taught to build my preschoolers self-concept, but I often said to myself, “How can I teach these kids confidence, when I don’t even feel it myself?”
From them though, I have grown to believe the statement, “You can learn many things from children.” Those 3 year-olds, no matter what got in their way, they were open to whatever was presented to them, and they respected each other with value.
One instance that really stood out at me, was between two boys this past spring.
Calvin, a shy boy, was crying under the jungle gym. Without hesitation, another young boy, Josh, immediately asked Calvin what was wrong, and to play. As a common act in my preschool, one child saw an opportunity to help someone, and acted. The dozen children I worked with were the most non-judgmental, respectful group I have never met.
Angela Schwindt had said, “While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.” My experience working with them not only helped me accept others regardless of our differences, but to accept myself. I began to fully believe in myself and develop my own self-concept. From them I had an inner confidence, and I learned to love life, and to teach others to love as well.
Those sometimes overwhelming, but always loving 3 year-olds are the main reason I live my life the way I do today, and the main reason why I love, and always will want to continue teaching.
It can only be about 250 words long and this one is currenly at just under 350. What points do you like? what do you think can get cut out…rate this essay
this essay was written based on the topic… talk about a life changing expirience… not anything about the university.. and well I want to be a teacher and they are the reason why… My life seriously has been pretty dull otherwise
