how to childproof the fireplace hearth.?

I have an 8 month old that’s getting around pretty good, the issue we have a fireplace with a hearth. The hearth is all brick with sharp corners. I’m afraid it’s only a matter of time before he busts his face on it, but am not sure how to make it safe. What is the cheapest way to do this, and still make it safe? I dont want to buy baby products that are expensive if I can find a way to do it myself.

a few questions about starting a business ?

I live in Australia, and i am passionate about starting a business but i have a few questions.
i will give a brief explanation of the business i wish to have and then i’ll ask a couple of questions.
the aim: helping young parents and young parents to be (single and/or patnered)
age group: 15-25
age group:(child). 0-5
I dont want to give money directly to young parents because the purpose is for their kids to have what they need. So what i would like to happen is for people to donate either money to buy baby products/clothes or people to donate those things.
Get young parents to register. make packs of things that they would need, or make them specify things they really need.
My questions are.
does it HAVE to be a non-profit business?
how to get people to donate?
how to get people interested in being involved?
how can i get volunteers?
and ofcourse what do you think of this idea?

I am writing a blog in regards to pregnancy and newborns. I have a lot of great help topics answering many top questions.
I have gone past the pregnancy section (which included picking doctors, insurance, –>> baby showers, decorating nursery, even buying baby products etc..)
I am now on the "womb to crib" section and would like to know what main topics you would want covered. Such as: baby massage, bathing baby etc…
The next section is "growing baby" – On this section what main topics would you like to see.
So: on these two topics:
1) Womb to crib
2) Growing baby (infants only)
