Attachment parenting is the best way to bond. It develops strong trust between parent to child and then you gently instruct your children rather than give illogical, unnatural consequences (such as time out, spanking, grounding, etc). It’s the most effective form of parenting out there.

For mommies who attachment parent, do you think that generally all babies need attachment parenting? Just judging off a response to a debate. I wanted to see if some other attachment parenting mommies though this way too.

The response basically was that all babies thrive best from attachment parenting. I have nothing against it, it just doesn’t work for my girls. I just wanted to know if it’s assumed my some of you guys that is the best way for all babies to thrive.

I hope that made sense. I just wanted more opinions.

Everything I have read about attachment parenting involves baby wearing and cosleeping, neither of which my daughters have taken well to
See, I was under the impression that the two biggest parts of AP were baby wearing and co sleeping. Neither of which I do. And I am guilty of letting my baby scream while tending to my other child (almost impossible to avoid)

I know this has been asked before, but I’m curious what the current crop of moms have to say. I suddenly wonder if having my son spend time lying down under his mirror and with his favorite toys is a "no go" with attachment parenting advocates. Is this realistic? You don’t ever put down the baby unless they are alseep? I’d love to hear someone explain this! (my son is 4 months)

the reason i ask is because i would like to know what other people think of it (if they’ve even looked at it as an option).
i just have to tell everyone that i will be leaving this question to be voted on to prove how much americans don’t agree with attachment parenting but rootofnowt is right. it is the right thing to raise your children in a loving and caring environment. and it doesn’t turn them in to wussies but it also doesn’t turn them into sociopaths.

Like, is there a name for a set of guidelines/beliefs that are pretty much the opposite of AP?

I without realising it automatically tend toward attachment parenting while my Husband & his Mother (who will be watching my baby) are more the Ferber type of parents. How can I get a happy medium? And keep my Baby happy?
BTW: she is 1 month. Too youg to even be having this convo.

I have been reading with fascination on the subject of attachment parenting. I raised my 6-year old in this manner somewhat, without realizing there was a term for it, and I’m enjoying it with my new baby. For those of you with older children raised with this method, can you tell me what benefits/differences you’ve noticed in your kids, compared to other kids whose parents did not use this method?

I have a one and a half year old son and believe in attachment parenting. Extended breastfeeding, cosleeping, baby wearing… but now I’m having triplets, how can I do this with more babies then hands? Also, I never used a breast pump but get the feeling I may need one this time… what kind is best?
